June Marie Blankenship, 87, of Napavine, Wash., passed away Friday, April 14, 2017, at Providence Centralia Hospital. She was born June 26, 1929, to Ward and Julia (Parrish) Fountain, in Paradise, Mont. A devout Christian, June was an active member of the Napavine Baptist Church and was treasurer/secretary.
June worked tirelessly her entire life. As a young wife and mother, employment opportunities required many relocations, from Montana, to Washington State, to New Mexico and to Alaska. She co-owned and operated several businesses, Arctic Rose Construction in Wasilla, Alaska, her last and most rewarding. She employed all four children, a granddaughter, their spouses and many in her community. Her "retired" husband, Jack, a skilled welder and fabricator, assisted behind the scenes. Throughout her busy life, she was mother to siblings, her children and grandchildren, retiring in Napavine, Wash. Finally!
After retirement, she stayed busy with family, church, friends, the gym and traveling.
She is survived by her four children, Judy Heidlebaugh (Jim) of Kent, Wash., Denice Workman (Jim) of Onalaska, Wash., Jackie Newman (Luis) and Damon Blankenship of Wasilla, Alaska; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Fountain (Sharon) of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Donald Fountain (Erlene) of Oceanside, Calif.; sister, Shirley Newlin (Ken) of Hutsonville, Ill.; and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Blankenship; brothers, Archie and Earl Fountain; sister, Dorothy Everett; and great-great-grandson, Colter Church.
Jason Saling, Pastor of Napavine Baptist Church, paid special tribute to his dear friend during Easter services April 16th.
Friends are welcome to join the family in their celebration of life to be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Doss Cemetery, Mossyrock, Wash. Her friend and former Pastor of Fairview Loop Baptist Church, Tom Hoffman of Wasilla, Alaska will be officiating. A reception will follow at The Salkum Fire Hall.
